About us

At the end of August 2023, all the components of Hydronaut were transported from the flooded quarry in the village of Jesenný to the ČVUT campus in Prague’s Dejvice district, where they were reassembled.

Over the next two years, they will serve here for the purposes of so-called dry missions, i.e., simulations of space missions outside aquatic environments.

The new location on dry land will allow participation in training and utilisation by individuals without diving training, especially benefiting local students in technical fields.

The combination of the Hydronaut H03 DeepLab, the Mission control centre and the dom for possible EVA gave rise to the complex facility of Little Moon City Prague (LMCP). The research and training center for isolated experiments and simulation missions ready to serve various purposes across the scientific, business and industrial fields.

Little Moon City Prague was inaugurated in November 2023 by Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli. Since the launch of Little Moon City Prague, analogue missions and research projects have been conducted in the training centre in cooperation with our partners.

Visit of President Petr Pavel

February 2026

We had the honor of welcoming President Petr Pavel, First Lady Eva Pavlová, and representatives of the City of Prague to our training center.

He chose us as part of his two-day visit to the capital as a unique start-up and perhaps also because of his own interest in space and science fiction films based on scientific facts, which he confided in us. 😉

We gave him a tour of the entire training center, introduced him to ongoing research and projects, and showed him the results of our close cooperation with CTU. The tour was followed by a discussion with CTU representatives about future projects and the importance of interdisciplinary basic research.

World’s Biggest Analog (WBA)

October 2025

The most extensive simulation of a space mission in history.

1 mission 14 days long, multiple habitats, collaborative research

To answer the question, “how will we live and work in Space as a community?”

A total of 15 habitats – research stations that simulate a stay in space – participated in a coordinated effort around the world. Their task within the mission was to conduct experiments and test the possibilities of coexistence in space.

The Little Moon City Prague training center and the Hydronaut habitat had a unique position within the WBA as being „in transit“ – a simulated journey from Earth to the Moon.

Mission PROMISE

September 2024

Launch of the Czech Journey to Space Project

PROMISE was a simulated mission to the Moon and back with the participation of Czech astronaut Major Aleš Svoboda.

The aim of PROMISE was to present to the public the achievements and planned projects in space research and manned flights from the perspective of science, research, development, innovation, and education.

The PROMISE Mission program also included a Science Studio, which streamed interviews and discussions with scientists, inventors, selected partners, and crew members, as well as demonstrations of studies and experiments planned for the ISS, directly from the LMCP to an outdoor screen.

Another astronaut on the Hydronaut Project board!

April 2024

This time we had the pleasure of welcoming ESA astronaut Roberto Vittori.

Few facts about Roberto:
spent 35 days and 12 hours in space • a crew member on the final flight of Endeavour • participated in three space missions + another two hours on the Hydronaut Project board 😉

Roberto Vittori and his colleagues were interested in Virtual trainer development, decompression issues in deep sea missions, crew safety and comfort in the habitat and also project history and funding.

We are pleased to be able to offer something to scientific and university teams.

Little Moon City Prague Opening

November 2023

Little Moon City Prague was inaugurated in November 2023 by Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli, who is a member of the European Space Agency (ESA) and has spent a total of 313 days, 2 hours and 36 minutes in space.

As part of this festive event, a lecture by Paolo Nespoli – „Human Space Endeavours: Today, Tomorrow, After-Tomorrow, After-after Tomorrow“ – was also held in the auditorium of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the CTU in Prague.
